A Wedding Tale of Wisdom and Generosity

The King’s Announcement

Once upon a time, a king declared that anyone who spoke a wise and kind word would be rewarded with four hundred dinars (gold coins).

The Wise Old Woman

One day, as the king was strolling among his subjects, he saw a ninety-year-old woman planting olive trees. The king approached her and said, “You will likely pass away in five or ten years, and these trees will not bear fruit for another twenty years. What is the benefit of your labor?”

The old woman replied, “The fruits we enjoyed were planted by our ancestors, and now we are planting for the benefit of our children and future generations.”

The King’s Reward

The king was moved by her wisdom and ordered her to be given four hundred dinars.

Upon receiving the dinars, the old woman smiled.

The king asked, “Why are you smiling?”

She answered, “The olive trees will bear fruit in twenty years, but I have received my reward today.”

Additional Rewards

Impressed by her response, the king ordered her to receive an additional four hundred dinars.

When the old woman received the extra dinars, she smiled again.

The king asked, “Why are you smiling this time?”

She said, “The olive tree bears fruit only once a year, yet my tree has already yielded fruit twice.”

The King’s Departure

The king was so touched by her wisdom that he ordered yet another four hundred dinars to be given to her. After issuing this command, the king quickly left.

The minister asked, “Why did you leave so suddenly?”

The king replied, “If I had stayed longer, I would have given away all my treasure, but the woman’s wise words would never have ended.”

A Lesson for the Occasion

This story reminds us that kind words and wise actions can deeply touch hearts and foster lasting connections. Just as the king was moved by the woman’s wisdom, we too can strengthen our bonds through generosity and understanding. May this lesson inspire us as we celebrate this union, bringing kindness, patience, and wisdom into our shared future.
